Yesterday, we got a lovely letter from the Minister for Sport, Tourism and Major Events in Victoria. This we would like to share with you:
"On behalf of the Victorian Government, welcome to our major events capital Victoria, proud hosts of the Australian Open Club Championships, at Leisuretime Centre in Geelong. Victoria lives and breathes sport. We’re home to some of the biggest events in the world including the Australian Formula One Grand Prix, Australian Open tennis, and Melbourne’s famous Spring Racing Carnival.
The Leisuretime Centre is regarded as one of Victoria’s finest regional sport facilities and provides a multi-purpose indoor venue for both competitors and spectators to enjoy. We are delighted to be hosting the Australian Open Club Championships for the third time. Featuring more than eight men’s and women’s teams from Australia and overseas countries, spectators can look forward to four days of action-packed competition and a great atmosphere.
The Victorian Government is proud to have provided support to Handball Victoria through the Significant Sporting Events Program to stage this fantastic event. Showcasing athletes in our own backyard provides inspiration for fans to emulate their heroes, join a club and get active and healthy through sport and recreation.
I invite all our guests to experience all the delights Victoria has to offer, starting with the Geelong region. There’s an enviable array of stunning beaches, restaurants, parks, museums, galleries and family–friendly attractions to enjoy.I wish all visitors, competitors, officials and volunteers a safe and exciting Australian Open Club Championships and an enjoyable stay here in Victoria.
Hon John Eren MP
Minister for Sport, Tourism and Major Events"
Best Thanks to the Minister and the Victorian Government for your support and we are excited to share our sport with you all!
